Day 171: @chriskim818 and @munchcon in the Sit-A :)

today was really really fun :)
july 8! kind of “our day”, i guess you could say.
it started off pretty normal, work for me, tutoring for him, and then we met up afterwards, ate some mandu and blueberries, took the train downtown, and just… walked down to michigan ave, like we usually do :) while we were walking towards michigan, he asked me if i wanted to go on an architecture tour of the city. he’d actually asked me this much earlier in the summer, but i said no; however, today i felt an urge to say yes, so i did! hahah. we actually ended up going on it, and it was 2 hours of awesome chicago and awesome christopher (+ his baby: nala, the nikon d90. i don’t think he’s gonna like that name because i just made it up on the spot. hahahaha) :) he’ll have pictures up on his zenfolio sometime soon (hopefully :D hehe)

right before we got on the boat, i started getting really itchy on my arms, so i thought i was getting bitten by lots and lots of bugs (which isn’t unusual).. it stopped for a while when i got on the boat, but as it got darker, i got itchier! it started getting dark kinda fast, so i didn’t even really look at what i was scratching, but later, when i looked at my arms/legs under light, i was starting to get blotchy… so i told/showed christopher, and he confirmed that it was hives.

yes, yes, i know what y’all are asking… “WHAT ARE YOU ALLERGIC TO, CONNIE???”

unfortunately, i do not know… this was the second time in my life that i’d ever broken out in hives (first time was in the summer of… 03? at the vega’s household after i ate some chapchae that their dad had cooked–it was so good. he’s such a good chef! :D ).. and i was thinking about the things that i had eaten that day, and i had no idea what i was allergic to… =\

but. being the good boyfriend that he is, he texted one of his friends who’s in pharm school (thank you, christopher’s friend! :D ) and asked what we should do. she said benadryl is a must, and then some coritisol to help relieve the itching. we got some benadryl, or like walgreens-brand benadryl and it definitely helped! :)

yeah, i’m making a big deal about my little hives-outbreak haha, but it was kinda scary for me. hahaha bc when i usually have an allergic reaction, it’s to furry animals, mainly pet dander, so.. i had no idea what had spurred this reaction :/

we all made it home, safely! :)

a great 7/8 :-) thank you, christopher! you is awesome, g.

side note: the reason it’s “sit-A” and not “sit-E” is because of CHRISGOPHER =b haha. he’s sitting next to me as i type this, and he said “you’re copying the last post!” hahaha so i changed it to “sit-a” like ‘CITAYYYYY’ hahahaha. i’m not lame at all, i know.

Day 169: CYC in the SIT-E

cyc hangout part II

so, cyc’s hang out last week kinda… didn’t go as planned, so PJ wanted to do something really fun today for the hang out: BIKING AT NAVY PIER :)

honestly, this totally made my day when i heard that this was what we were gonna do!

sidenote: christopher and i decided to tag along again because we love cyc :) forreal, we do. well, i do, at least :)

anyway. yeah, so i was really happy and really surprised that we were gonna go into the city at like 7pm! when we got there, we found out that to ride the quad-cycle-things, you need to be 18 or 18+ or you need to be with a parent/guardian? so.. we ended up not being able to bike around like we wanted to :/ but… i wasn’t too bummed because we were in the city, which i love! :)

we ended up just eating inside the food court at navy pier and then walking around the actual pier :) there was a cruise ship called “Kanan” and we were like, ‘hey! it’s for CYC! “Kanan” pronounced “Canaan”!’ haha :) we had a few good laughs.

cyc actually kinda had some sort of a photo shoot, thanks to christopher and his photog skills. the pictures look really cool from what i saw on his camera. hopefully, they’ll be posted soon.

i really miss cyc.. i know i’ve said that a lot in my past posts, but i’m always reminded of how thankful i really should be for Canaan, CYC, our leaders (past, present, and future), and all the students. man, God worked wonders in me when i was at CYC. i can only imagine what He has in store for these youngins! :D

so thankful for CYC!!

Day 148: Fruit. Froot. Frewt. First.

my mom cut up a bowl of fruit for me for my breakfast on-the-go during my morning commute to LV :)

hrm, today was day TWO of LV vbs, and it was much much easier/more fun than yesterday! :) i don’t know exactly what made it better, but maybe it was because i kind of understood more of what was expected of me and things like that :) yay. PTL! i’m getting through vbs only by the grace and strength of God; surrrriously.

anywho. the colors of the strawberries and kiwi that my mom cut up were so vibrant that i think they deserved a picture :) they were FREAKING DELICIOUS! FREAKING.

anywhoo, today, after vbs, christopher and i went downtown for a few hours. our main reason for going out was so he could get an apple gift card that he found on craigslist.. i swear, that’s his bff (next to his camera, amazon, photo blogs, gmail, twitter, other people’s blogs, mint.com, and tetris). yup. i’m not even on that list relative to those things.. haha. the guy that he bought it from actually kinda reminded me of d.rose haha ionno why. christopher thinks it’s bc he had lighter skin like drose  =)

’twas a rainy day, today, in the chicagoland area. after we picked up the gift card, we went to jimmy john’s, grabbed some subs, then went to argo!

today was our first trip to argo together!
i was really craving a red-i crossword puzzle, and PTL there was one across the street! i thought there weren’t going to be any in the little vending things because there usually isn’t towards the evening, but there were a number of copies! probably because it was raining on and off all day. so, as i waited to walk across the street, i stood under christopher’s umbrella (he stayed at argo), i felt so.. i dunno.. freee. something about the rain just makes me feel all replenished… err, REVITALIZED (word from the crossword i tried–but failed miserably–at argo. christopher had to whack my brain a few times to get most of the answers.. man, i just gotta learn to think more… :/)

anywho. we took the train back, got off at a stop AFTER our actual stop because the doors didn’t open on our actual stop :( we walked back to his house from the north glenview train station bc that’s where we got off :/ and (best part of the whole night) we played this association game where.. we start off with whatever word we want, and the other person has to say what comes to mind (or what they associate that word with), and it goes back and forth. we hit a few ruts where… we ended up saying our own names… hahahaha and it was just a vicious circle from there =b

(side note: i like the word “viscous” or “viscosity”..just sounds cool..)

twas fun :) the walk didn’t seem that long, but yeah.

OH. and there’s this place called.. Zingarella somewhere by the glen, and (i honestly feel lame writing this about myself, but… it was too funny =b) i looked at it and said to chris, “hey, if you put a B and an A before “zingarella”, then you get “BAZINGArella”" hahahaahahah :D man. this brain of mine… =b

sad loss for the celtics… :(

OH and PS. i don’t HATE the lakers… they just… ionno :/ don’t pull at the right strings sometimes.. but yo, kobe is GOOOOOOOOOOOOD

Day 139: Rain & Shine

craazy clouds today!

so, Jmal asked Christopher and I if we wanted to go to the Shedd because one of her friends from Michigan is in town, and I guess they wanted to go to the Shedd. we took different trains (with different lines), so they ended up at Ogilivie and Christopher and I ended up at Union. Jmal and Megan, her other friend that tagged along, waited for us for a little, but our train was delayed a little and then we had some crew-change right before we got to Union -_-” so it took us a while to get there.

Christopher and I ended up not going into the Shedd, at all… hahaha, we walked all the way there taking some detours because of the random rain shower, and then decided that we didn’t really want to pay $16 to go into the Shedd.. so, we walked around to the lake front-ish area by Adler and Christopher took some awesome pictures with his wide-angle of the city… man… i LOVE the city. i LOVE LOVE LOVE the city. i can’t wait to go to the city some more! gahhhhhh. i really wish i had a place out there… those condos right by museum campus would be MONEY.

then, we waited for the others to finish @ the Shedd, but Christopher realized that we weren’t even going to go back on the same train, so we decided to head back and get food, but we were walking/skipping (yes, skipping) a bit too slow, so we ended up having to just go straight back to Union.

(now, this is the best part)

we were walking up Madison when it started to rain a little bit, and so I flung my arms out, and I was like “RAIN MORE!” and, after a few seconds, IT STARTED TO RAIN MORE!!!!! I was SO flippin’ excited, but Christopher, on the other hand, was not excited at all… he went, “why, Connie, why???” it actually started raining pretty hard, so we had to take a little break under one of the huge buildings, but then right before we hit the bridge, we just ran for it! :D

we were running in the rain for a good while, and it was so so so SOOOOOOOO fun. it felt so.. freeing and just.. awesome.. I hope I can do that again sometime… I was really thankful that Christopher had a good attitude about it. I kinda felt bad because he had his camera gear with him in the camera bag, and I didn’t want it to get wet, but.. I think I needed it… :) Thank you, Christopher! you’re the best.. :)

afterwards, we got on the train & headed back home. we got some Chipotle, which we both agree wasn’t that great, and then came to my house and ate rainbow sherbet as we watched part of game 2 of the NBA Finals (Lakers v Celtics; YAY Celtics won :) 103-94) dang. this is an exciting series!

i would absolutely love (is there any word stronger than "love"?) to see this outside my window... so freeing.

if I could make a living from studying and researching the universe, I’d take that job…

Day 120: Say It With Me Now: T-B-K.

tbk.. Tbk.. TBk.. TBK.. TBK!.. TBK!!. TBK!!!

so, this is one of my all time favorite eats of Greek Town, Chicago. it’s freaking soooooo soooooo good. especially late at night. i mean, it’s not such a great feeling when you wake up in the morning feeling full and gross, but yo, sometimes it’s totally totally worth it :) I WANT TBK RIGHT NOW! gosh, why didn’t i get any while i was downtown today… :/ dumb mistake, connie.
